VW — The Digital Showroom
At the beginning of March 2020 dealerships were deemed a non-essential service and most car brands didn't have an appropriate digital experience to shop for a car. The major hurdle when designing a digital experience for car buying is the last 5% of the process. Most people already have the majority of their journey online; visiting online marketplaces, watching reviews, and browsing brand websites. We focused on the final steps before purchase; booking a test drive, interacting with a sales person, and finding available models near you.
We balanced creating a custom experience and getting the product to market quickly. The product was designed with external API's and solutions in mind. For the sales experience, we leaned on Sofia Pulse for an AI-powered chatbot since there wasn't an existing online sales chat. We recommended Webflow, OnSched, and stock assets for speedy turnarounds.
The digital showroom ended up being distilled down to a single, long page for each vehicle for quick turnarounds and a rich experience. The product could be used for a single vehicle, or an entire vehicle lineup. The experience also went on to win a few awards!
